Plush seats, comfortable lighting and reading material are only part of how far Starbucks go in the quest to treat the customers like a deity of some sort. McDonald's have jumped into the fray as well with their new outlet next to IKEA in Mutiara Damansara sporting a totally new concept compared to the McDonald's that we all know; the very same one to sport cheap-looking plastic chairs and brightly-colored tables in a very classic cafeteria arrangement. Now with WiFi and plush seats, McDonald's is not only offering the chance to be comfortable, but also the chance to remain connected - an almost required feature these days. So much so that some mamak outlets even offer wifi to attract customers, and probably charge more :P With computing, the same story plays out. The notorious BSOD was one good example that ruins the computing experience. Browsing? I have always loved Opera. The only thing that miffs me is that not many sites are configured for Opera. If you ask me, Opera beats even Firefox, function-wise. With Firefox 4, I find myself cursing every few minutes. The application runs slow, and opening multiple tabs turns out to be disastrous. If you are a power-surfer like I am, you tend to have about 80 tabs or so, at least. Imagine the pain when the tabs are lost. Yes. Very painful. Chrome is doing very good in the browsing department. It's very rare for me to get a browser crash on my Chrome (or Opera, for that matter). Now, with Firefox 5 looming in the horizon, disgruntled FireFox freaks (like me) are now waiting to give FF one last chance before they hop over to Chrome for good.
